1. Petition

We have set up a petition and sent it as an open letter to Boris Johnson, Rishi Sunak, Kwasi Kwarteng & Nickie Aiken asking for further government assistance.

3. Work on Old Compton St - this week 

Please be advised that works to resurface Old Compton Street and Greek Street will start on Monday 1stFebruary and conclude (in Greek Street) on Thursday 4th February.

 

  • Work Phases

 

The resurfacing will be undertaken in two phases, with access to limited as follows:

 

Phase 1 – 07:00hrs Monday 1st through to 18:00hrs Tuesday 2nd February

 

  • Old Compton Street will be closed from Dean Street through to Moor Street; and

 

  • Greek Street will be closed from Soho Square through to Shaftesbury Avenue.

 

  • Old Compton Street will reopen from Dean Street through to Frith Street at approximately 18:00hrs (or on completion of resurfacing); with access only through to the Greek Street junction (that will remain closed for Phase 2)  

 

Phase 2 – 07:00hrs Wednesday 3rd through to 18:00hrs (or once resurfacing is completed)

 

  • Old Compton Street will be accessible from Dean Street through to Frith Street ; with access only through to the Greek Street junction (that will remain closed for Phase 2), vehicles would need to egress towards Frith Street. 

 

  • Greek Street will be closed from Soho Square through to Shaftesbury Avenue until completion of resurfacing.

 

 

In general:

 

Affected properties, businesses and residents have been notified of these works today via letter-drop.

 

  • Pedestrian Access

 

Pedestrian footway and access to properties will be maintained; however, pedestrians may be directed to take safe, alternative routes, around junctions or at any crossing point provided. We do apologise for additional inconvenience that this will cause.

 

  • Vehicle Access

 

Emergency Vehicle access and egress is always maintained; after the team have left site barriers can be easily removed (and replaced please) should emergency vehicle need to access beyond the barrier line. There will be “raised utility covers” if resurfacing has not been completed. During the day, Traffic Marshals will be in place to assist with access / egress.

 

Vehicles making small deliveries should park at the nearest junction and make delivery on foot.

 

Larger deliveries may be allowed access; but this is work dependent.

 

Drivers should approach Traffic Marshals for advice.

 

Non-urgent deliveries should be rescheduled to after works are completed.

 

We do apologise for the late notification of these works. They are being completed during the current COVID-19 Government Lockdown period so as not to impact on post lockdown recovery in the area.

 

Some of our works will be noisy and we do apologise to those working from home during the current lockdown.

 

  • Waste Collection

 

Access for waste collection vehicles will be dependent on location and progress of works; drivers should approach traffic marshals for advice. We do apologise for late notification.
